VVCB's 10 Tamper Resistant Safeguards

PROTECTING VALUE WHILE PROTECTING THE INDUSTRY

Discouraging tampering and maintaining a VVCB box's provenance is critical to keeping the market free from pilfering and scams. Once a sealed case is opened, two things occur: the item's credibility of being pulled from a sealed case (FASC) is diminished or eliminated and its value drops significantly.

Our goal is to increase the credibility and authenticity of each box we handle while adding to its value. We provide a method of protection, verification and transparency to every item we process.

Careful thought was put into each and every element that goes into protecting our certified items. Each element has a purpose and they work together to ensure the highest level of security.

WARNING:  If any of the following elements are missing or don't look right, you must assume the item has been tampered with or is fake. Watch the case break video to verify prior to purchasing a VVCB item to ensure it's genuine. Click here >> to enter the Case #, Item # or Serial #.

Here's How We Protect Our VVCB Items

Shrink Wrap - our customized logo shrink wrap seals each item, helping to hold the box together and secure its contents. It not only offers protection from dust, dirt and debris, but exposes any attempts to open the sealed item. Additionally, the location of each wrapper logo varies from box to box. No two wraps will ever be the same.  VVCB never uses clear tape or glue to secure or seal our shrink wrap.  Whenever possible, VVCB avoids placing any label or stickers over the seam lines.  As of 09/01/2024, our shrink wrap does not have logos on the top 1/2 of the box so logos don't get in the way of your favorite player or box artwork. Great for displaying.

Certificate of Video Verification Label - this tamper evident Certificate of Video Verification label is placed on the each item. The lower portion of the label displays the Product Specifications and a wet stamp. Every single label is customized to the particular item it is placed on and is unique because of the wet stamp, Serial # and Item #. No two Certificates will ever be the same.

Product Specifications - this area displays all the unique codes and numbers for each individual item and appears on each item verified by VVCB. The main location is on the Certificate of Video Verification label affixed to the outside of the Shrink Wrap. The Case # and QR codes are also placed on the dollar bill located inside of the shrink wrap for continuity, preventing label swapping.

QR Code - our custom QR code is unique to each case and is the same for each item pulled from the case. When scanned with a smart device, the QR code automatically brings you to the verification video website page where the video of the case break can be viewed.

Video & Data Webpage - each case break video, Serial #'s, Item #'s etc. are hosted on our secure website, making it impossible for anyone, other than VVCB, to change or edit any of the data shown online.

Video Verification Seal  - we use a custom made tamper evident seal which reveals a "VOID" marking if removed. These numbered seals ensure that the Certificate Label is not removed from the item in an attempt to be placed on a different item.

Case #/ Item # - each qualified case receives a unique Case # and every item from that case receives a unique Item #. The first 6 digits reveals the date of the break, the next 2 digits represents which # case was verified on that day, and the last digit(s) of the Item # represents which order the item was processed from within the case. For example, the first case processed on July 4, 2019 with 20 wax boxes inside would have a case # of 0704191 and the first box processed from that case would have be Item # 0704191-01. The last box from that same case would have be Item # 0704191-20.

US Mint Serial Number  - on each Product Specification label you'll find a US Mint issued Serial #. Using a US Mint serial number is the only way to have a unique and secure code for each item we verify. Any other type of numbered bar codes, sequentially numbered stickers, labels or holograms can be reproduced and printed multiple times, allowing for potential duplication by error or intent. The use of a US Mint serial number makes it impossible for VVCB or anyone else to try to duplicate a verified item. Each bill is marked to ensure VVCB cannot reuse the same dollar bill in the future.

FASC Wet Stamp  - placed on the Certificate of Video Verification label our multi-color stamp's location, angle and impression naturally differs from one stamp to the next adding to each label's uniqueness. Colors vary slightly from one impression to the next and are recorded in each video so you can match the stamp on the video to the stamp on the item. The stamping process makes it impossible, even for VVCB, to copy or try to replicate a verified item off camera. No two stamped impressions will ever be the same.

The Dollar Bill  - sealed inside the shrink wrap is the actual dollar bill used for the Serial #. There are three reasons for doing this:

  • 1:  To guarantee that VVCB doesn't create two items with the same Serial # through error or intent.
  • 2:  To guarantee that anyone outside of VVCB doesn't succeed in duplicating a VVCB item.
  • 3:  The dollar bill needs to stay with the label. It's placed inside the wrap to discourage tampering.  Duplication of a US dollar is not only hard to do, it's a felony!

FASC Logo Sticker - In early 2024, we discontinued the use of this sticker.  After careful consideration, this sticker did not add any value or protection, and therefore was just "in the way," blocking artwork that so many collections enjoy.

You may find VVCB boxes with or without this foil sticker, neither version should have an affect on value or provenance.

Feel free to remove these round stickers if you feel it improves the look of your display piece.

Digital Storage & Public Transparency - We host all of this data and photographic evidence right here on VVCB.net for anyone to research and verify. The history of the item remains stored safely for anyone to see at anytime.

You get to watch the break and the wrapping (if you're looking for a mind-numbing experience), to verify any VVCB box.

Even if someone was to copy one of our wraps, they'd never be able to upload the data onto this website.  If a VVCB box information isn't showing up on this site, the box is 100% fake.

Re-Wraps

Some item numbers will have a "RW" after the number. This indicates that VVCB has re-wrapped the box on video, due to less than acceptable quality of wrapping the first time we broke the case on video.  We're obsessed with transparency, so this entire process is captured on video (and shared).

Often times during wrapping, heat causes small holes / tears in the wrap that go unnoticed during the initial case break. These re-wraps are always recorded and posted on our site and the same boxes receive the same item numbers, just with a new label (the old labels are very hard to remove without damaging or degrading them).  The original box and wrap is shown on video before, during and after the process. The same dollar bill is used. The old label is destroyed on video.

Example:   Old Item Number:  0403341   would become 0403341-RW

NOTE: VVCB does not rewrap boxes that have already been shipped out to customers.  We will only re-wrap items that have never left our facility, and we always capture this process on video.
